On February 2021, the UP Economics Towards Consciousness (UP ETC) will be celebrating its foundation day through its yearly Consciousness Month, a month-long initiative bringing together different sectors of the Filipino society in pursuit of meaningful social action and positive change.
Entitled Bouncing Back from the Pandemic: A look at the road to recovery of key sectors in the Philippines, Consciousness Month 2021 seeks to explore the progress of recovery of crucial sectors in the country, with particular emphasis on the role of the youth, the economy, and the government. Unlike previous Consciousness Months, UP ETC will be hosting the first ever online commemoration of its foundation day, with an interesting line up of activities that tap into different groups, particularly the youth.
The celebration will kick off on February 10 with the Alliance Day, a webinar featuring advocacies of various organizations and a lecture on the importance of legislation and lobbying in forwarding social advocacies.
On February 19, there will also be an educational forum on the topic of bridging the digital divide during the COVID-19 pandemic through a multi-sectoral discussion called Kapekonomiya.
The celebration will close off with a 3-day event called Youth in Action, a lecture and case study competition series for high school students aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the youth’s role in advocating for good governance amidst the pandemic.
